          This clutch is our exclusive collection to shine the light to Indonesia's Sumatran tiger, one of world's critically endangered animal. According to WWF, there are only fewer than 400 Sumatran tigers left and if deforestation & poaching action continues, Sumatran tiger could be the first large predator to go extinct in the 21st century.


          Indonesia already has lost two tiger subspecies, the Bali and Javan tigers, which became extinct in the 1940s and 1980s respectively. Three of the world's eight tiger subspecies have gone extinct in the past 70 years; the remaining five subspecies are all endangered.


          WWF supports anti-poaching patrols in Indonesia and has helped arrest and prosecute poachers. WWF is also investing in habitat conservation and a biological assessment of tigers in the lowlands of central Sumatra to better address threats to the remaining population.

          The Ocean Tribal clutch is perfect for the beach, brunch, and everything in between! Traditional techniques and patterns are used to create these trendy, modern bags. It is completely handwoven with a repeating design on front and back.

          • As with all handcrafted goods, there are slight variations making each piece a work of art and truly one of a kind.

          Artisan Profile


          Laos is a country of diverse ethnic groups, each with unique and highly adept craft and artisan skills, but the pressures of modern life and the availability of cheap factory made imports have resulted in Lao people giving up their crafts and their rural livelihoods. As a result, many of the crafts of Laos are vanishing art forms. Our design and production teams work closely with artisan groups in Laos to create items that fit modern, natural lifestyles while still retaining the spirit of traditional craftsmanship. Guided by the principles of fair trade, we work to create employment opportunities for villagers, especially women, and to reduce poverty and each product is made and finished in the villages.

          These beautiful tribal bags are made using hand-woven and hand-dyed saa (mulberry) bark. From dyeing and weaving to the finishing work, the value-added income stays in the village. In addition to using natural fibers, materials and dyes, the villagers are committed to reducing waste and upcycling, when possible. Bags are lined with remnant fabrics and fibers. Nothing goes to waste and everything is done to consciously reduce waste and protect the environment.
